Shopping Local: To Be Frank Bakery

Living Local in the New Chevron Polo

Even during these weird times, we are so fortunate to call Melbourne home. We live in a city that celebrates diversity and encourages amazing small businesses to bring the world’s food to our high streets. On a sunny day recently we took our friend Sam to visit an incredible local bakery called “To be Frank’ for a coffee and some of their amazing bread.

Sam wore our best-selling Chevron Polo, returning this Spring and reimagined in a subtle yet distinctive navy and grey palette. Made in Italy from a luxurious knitted cotton and featuring ribbed cuffs and hem, this luxurious interpretation of the traditional polo will elevate any casual outfit.

Born in Argentina, Franco Villalva moved to Australia in 2012. While travelling he fell in love with a style of bread made using the fermentation method known as “Respectus Panis”. In 2017 he decided to take a chance and move to Bangkok to learn from Jonathan Valdman at the acclaimed Amantee bakery . He moved back to Melbourne in 2019 and opened To be Frank at 1/4 Bedford St, Collingwood, the bakeries ethos is based on using local flours and ingredients, sustainability and providing healthy bread to their local community.

How we wear it:

Lightweight, comfortable and incredibly versatile, we designed this polo to be enjoyed all year round. During the cooler months, layer it under a casual jacket with jeans for a sophisticated casual look. On sunny days it really comes into its own, pairing well with linen chinos and loafers.
